Truck Bed Camper Questions, Answered
Everything people ask before they reserve a pop-up wedge tent cap. If your question isn't here, send it over and we'll answer it directly.

The Cap & Tent
What You're Getting
What is a pop-up wedge tent cap?
It's a truck bed cap with a tent built into it. The shell sits on your bed like a normal cap, and the roof pops up at an angle to open a stand-up sleeping area above the bed. When the tent is packed away it works as a regular cap, so you're not giving up your truck to get a camper.
What is the cap made of?
The shell is 1/8" formed aluminum with stainless steel hardware. It's built for strength without the weight of a hard-side camper, and it's weatherstripped to keep water and dust out.
How long does it take to set up?
Around five minutes, and about the same to take it down. No tools, and you can do it on your own.
How many people does it sleep?
The sleeping area is 4ft x 8ft with a 2" high-density foam mattress, which comfortably fits two adults. There's a separate pass-through panel that pops up as well.
Do I have to strip the bedding every time I close it?
No. The tent closes with most bedding still in place, so you're not making the bed from scratch at every stop.
Is there power in the tent?
There's 400W of solar installed on the roof. The LED lights inside run off any standard USB power bank.
Will it hold up in cold weather?
It's a four-season tent. The polycotton has waterproof bonded seams, and an insulated liner is included that zips into the tent for extra warmth when it gets cold.
How are the windows built?
There are three windows, each with three layers: mesh, solid, and awning. All of them open and have tie-backs. A lip is formed over the windows on the shell to stop water working its way in.
How much does it weigh?
Full-size models run about 450 to 500lb. Smaller beds come in around 350 to 400lb.
Can I mount accessories to it?
Yes. There's an interior molle panel with riv-nuts on the side doors, and T-channel track runs 360 degrees around the shell for external mounting.
Does it lock?
Every door and latch has a keyed lock, and they open from the inside.
Does it still work as a normal truck cap?
Yes. With the tent packed down it functions as a regular cap, including a sliding rear window, a window between the cab and cap, and a third brake light on the rear door.
Fitment
Will It Fit My Truck?
What trucks do you fit?
Any of them. We build to your bed, so make and model aren't a limit. Tacoma, Tundra, F-150, Colorado, Ram, Frontier, and less common trucks are all doable. See the availability page for what's ready now.
Do you have anything in stock for a Tacoma?
Tacoma is our most common fit, in both 5ft and 6ft bed lengths. Current stock and lead times are listed on the availability page, which we keep updated.
Do I need to modify my truck?
No. The cap installs with standard cap C-clamps. No drilling, no cutting, nothing permanent to the bed.
What measurements do you need for a custom build?
Width, length, and height of your bed. That's everything we need to quote it. If your truck is unusual, a photo helps too.
How long does a custom size camper take?
Roughly three to six months from order to ready. Custom builds go into the same queue as everything else.
Can you fit a bed that already has a rack or liner?
Send us your measurements and photos and we'll confirm before you put money down. Most setups are fine, but it's worth checking rather than guessing.
Ordering
Deposits, Pricing & Lead Times
How much does it cost?
The pop-up wedge tent cap is $6,500. That includes the aluminum shell, the four-season tent, the insulated liner, the 2" mattress, and 400W of solar.
How do I reserve one?
A 50% deposit holds your spot in the build queue. The balance is due when you pick it up. You can start from the contact page or reserve directly from the product page.
How long is the wait?
Build and transit runs about 90 days from the point your deposit clears. Your build slot typically opens within about two weeks of reserving.
What if the size I want isn't in stock?
It goes into the build queue at the same lead time. Sizes that are already in transit are usually faster, and current status for each is on the availability page.
Is the deposit refundable?
Reach out before you reserve if you have questions about this. We'd rather talk it through than have you put money down on something that isn't the right fit.
Do you offer financing?
Get in touch and we'll talk through the options for your situation.
Pickup
Getting Your Cap
Do you ship?
No. Local pickup only, from our shop in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. Skipping freight is part of how the price stays where it is, and it means we can fit the cap to your truck in person.
Where do I pick it up?
Rehoboth, Massachusetts, in southeastern New England. It's an easy drive from Providence, Boston, Hartford, and most of southern New England.
What happens at pickup?
We install the cap on your truck and walk you through setup and takedown before you leave. You'll have put the tent up and down yourself before you drive off.
Can I see one in person before I buy?
Yes, by appointment. It's about a twenty minute walkthrough. We'll pop the tent, show you how it works, and answer whatever you've got. No pressure and no obligation.
